About Us

Our Mission...

The ArtiZen Club was founded by Helen Ballou — a 22-year veteran educator certified in Language Arts, Social Studies, and ESOL, and a proud former English learner who grew up bilingual in Spanish and English. As someone who personally experienced the challenges of language barriers in school, she created The ArtiZen Club to provide middle school students—especially multilingual learners and those affected by trauma—a space to thrive creatively and emotionally.

Through diamond art, structured SEL conversations, and guided mindfulness, ArtiZen programs help students slow down, refocus, and reconnect with themselves and each other.

We partner with schools, rec departments, and nonprofits to deliver engaging after-school and summer programs across South Carolina — and we’re just getting started.
